GAMI – Global Advanced Manufacturing Institute
Global production networks influence modern production planning and generate value creation across the globe. A fundamental understanding of processes within global networks and in key markets such as China is an indispensable competitive advantage. The Global Advanced Manufacturing Programme (GAMI), founded by Prof. Gisela Lanza, therefore seeks to deepen the understanding of global production structures in line with KIT’s three pillars of research, innovation and teaching, and to develop new, robust and well-managed production networks for industrial companies tailored to local conditions. Continuing education, training and coaching are key components that GAMI offers its industry partners. What makes GAMI unique is, on the one hand, its current staff of 20 Chinese employees, most of whom completed their engineering degrees at KIT, and, on the other hand, its integration into current KIT research projects.
GAMI is located in Suzhou, which is often referred to as the Venice of the East due to its many canals and is one of China’s most popular tourist destinations, situated around 80 kilometres from Shanghai.
GAMI offers training courses for companies in both production engineering and various soft skills.
