Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC)
The Advanced Manufacturing Technology Centre (AMTC) is located on the Jiading Campus of Tongji University in Shanghai. It is a joint venture between the institutions
- Sino-German University College (CDHK)
- wbk Institute for Production Science(KIT)
- College of Mechanical Engineering (Tongji Universität)
The AMTC carries out work in the field of production engineering and has three main areas of focus:
- Research
- Teaching
- Industrial projects
Offers
It offers its partners the following services:
- Practical training and further education for production engineers working in China
- Contract research and development for manufacturing companies in China
- Basic research in the field of automated manufacturing (machining and assembly processes, automated production systems)
Given Germany’s leading role in automotive technology and the fact that China is the world’s largest automobile-producing nation, the Centre focuses on production technology development for automotive OEMs in China and their suppliers. In this context, machining processes and their automated production systems for cylinder heads and blocks, as well as for crankshafts and camshafts, are of particular interest for engine manufacturing. In assembly, the focus is on robotic applications in body-in-white construction and vehicle interior finishing.
The AMTC’s machinery is always state-of-the-art. Consequently, the machines and equipment are not purchased but are made available by industrial companies for the duration of the research work. These currently include:
- Machining centre from MAG Industrial Automation Systems
- Turning centre from MAG Industrial Automation Systems
- Coordinate measuring machine from Zeiss
- Industrial robot from ABB
